 SALAMANDER

 Stretched Gallery Canvas

Salamander has a secret! The title was given to me by my husband who noticed something in this painting that is most unusual. The way the story goes is that I was feeling this painting was finished so I asked my husband to give it a name, as I often do. He looked at the painting for several moments and out of the blue he said "SALAMANDER!" I looked at him as if he was crazy! Salamander? Why Salamander? All of a sudden, he pointed to a shape in the painting that totally made sense. Salamander abstractly represents stones under the waters of our many rivers here in Montana. So, while my husband was looking at the painting, attempting to name it, he noticed a white shape over one of the stones! The white shape looks exactly like a salamander sunbathing on the rock.

Salamander has been in retail and in gallery. Currently, Salamander is for sale; available for gallery, retail, restaurant installation, museum installation, business installation and also available for city murals.

PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST: The Abstract of Susie Wolf, Created by Ethan Kaull Videography

Image
THE ABSTRACT OF SUSIE WOLF Life is so very interesting. One minute you are cooking a beautiful meal and feeling so lighthearted and happy, then all of a sudden you feel a sharp pain in your chest above your heart, accompanied by a tremendous pain in your forehead that creates a total physical weakness causing you to drop to the kitchen floor. Luckily, you have your cell phone that is sitting on the kitchen counter, and you have just enough strength to call Barbara, your neighbor who drives our local small town ambulance service truck. After twenty years of being a resident in our tiny town of Montana, Barbara and others have driven me several times to our rural hospital in Bozeman. It was because of my health issues that I met Ethan Kaull. All of our ambulance drivers who are volunteers, are under a great deal of stress due to the unexpected growth in our town. Therefore, certain needs for the ambulance services were being ignored.  I believe it was Barbara who had the idea o...

ALONG THE GALLATIN

Image
ALONG THE GALLATIN Across the grass, flat on our backs, watching clouds drift by, blades of grass between our teeth in the days of you and I Two sunny girls filled with hope, giggles and dreams of tomorrow who would have thought these two girls would know and survive such sorrow Hand in hand we stood together weeding through the years holding onto the thought of dreams while choking on our tears As girls become strong women standing side by side fifty years and counting this friendship was our pride Although our hearts have been broken more than a time or two laughter comes from blades of grass still passing from me to you Dedicated to Linda Delores Matus, 1956-2018 R.I.P. -Susie Rosso Wolf

ROSANN'S TONE POEM

Image
My mother, Rosann Rosso, was the inspiration for my most beloved composition entitled Rosann's Tone Poem. Why would I title a painting with such a strange name? Well, because Rosann was a great pianist, organist, and before I was born, she also played the cello but sold the cello in order to pay for my birth at Santa Monica Hospital in Los Angeles, California. My mother wasn't just a musician; she was also a very artistic gardener. One year, in the 1960's era, my mother decided to plant gladioli's all along the walls of our garage in the backyard. Rosann grew magenta, yellow and orange gladioli's that were gigantically spectacular. As an Italian family, every Sunday we all gathered at our table to eat together and it was my job, as the youngest of four children, to cut stems and to bring in a dozen or so of gladioli from our beautiful garden. I carefully placed them into a large vase that was made in Italy, a true family treasure. The gladioli were always placed in ...
